Gustavo & Jackie Sotelo are the proprietors behind Orixe Sotelo, a brand founded in Sonoma, California in 2019. Orixe (o-REE-shay) is a Galician word from Latin “origo” meaning: “beginning, source, birth, origin”. Our name, Sotelo, originates in the coastal mountains of Galicia, Spain. O.S. is the lens through which we aspire to expand upon California’s wine culture, specifically through the use of Spanish grape varieties. We have a strong vision for their future in California - a state that is primed for a renaissance of these cultivars and wine expressions.
Gustavo
A seasoned California winemaker with extensive cellar and viticulture experience. Gustavo apprenticed with some of the top wineries in Napa, Sonoma, and Spain before becoming the head winemaker for SCRIBE Winery. Gustavo is a graduate of Boston University, the UC Davis Viticulture & Enology program, and has received additional certifications from Bordeaux Agro Sciences Université & the Institut de la Vigne et du Vin de l'Université de Bourgogne.
Jackie
Jackie worked with wineries in Napa and Sonoma before returning to real estate development in 2024. With roots in sales, marketing, and operations across tech, media, and real estate, she now runs the admin side of Orixe Sotelo. Drawn to the intersection of culture, craft, and community, she explores the California–Mexican–European influences that shape the spirit of Orixe Sotelo.
